Hi Peter, this came with the black vase that I post last week, there was three vases that was sold as a group at at the local auction, they called this a mirror black glaze, but after I purchased it I realized that it was purple and not black, this vase is 56.5 cm tall and is 21.6 cm wide under poor lighting it is easily mistaken for black, Please let me know what you think.

I believe that this is mid to late 19th century, after searching for like kind at the high auction houses, I found that this would be called an Aubergine Rouleau vase, it looks like the whole vase would have been painted white and then the purple glaze on top of that, I have noticed that the later rouleau vases would have a sharp curve around the neck adjoining the body, this was not so on earlier type vases which would be a subtle rounded edges.

I cannot comment on this vase, Stan. I would need a hands-on inspection.
