Important to know for both, collectors of Chinese and Japanese porcelain!

There is a little known Japanese kiln that produced Chinese style Sancai wares in Japan. Gennai kiln started production in the mid-Edo period. They produced many (or mainly) items with sancai decorations, even some with Chinese motifs.
If you intend to obtain Chinese sancai wares it is necessary to be careful. These wares are and look old and some are very similar to the early Liao or Chinese sancai wares
They can be identified by the rim and bottom shape as being from this kiln.
