Hi Peter, sorry for taking so long to get back, I have a Large bowl with similar landscape decoration, what appears to be two caves, There must be a place with these caves, your plate is the second one that I have seen with that decoration I do not know where the landscape is located, It would be interesting to find out where the location is.

I assume with "cave" you mean the rock or stone formations underneath the rim?  I have never paid attention to these, actually. And yes, I also never saw anything similar. Interesting. Such formations are usually more common in Chinese wares. What is painted on top of yours?

I have no idea where that could be. Basically, apart from volcanoes there is no such things as high mountains in  central and southern Japan, where kilns may be located. Maybe it could be showing some coastal rock formations like those well known from Sendai, etc.?
