What does he hold in his hand?

Hi Peter and Stan,

This time I would like to ask your opinion on this sitting figure of an official. In his hand he is holding something broken that could be a ruyi with the top cut off, with an odd double stem. What do you think it can be? Could this figure be old as appears?

This is a few decades old at the most, in my opinion.

Thank you Peter for your answer and the interesting link. So it is a ruyi with an odd stem, but the object is not valuable enough to be restored.
