I bought a plate that should be imari, akae style.
I will appreciate to have comment on style and period.

Thank you in advance.

Stan

I would think this is early 20th century by the looks of the foot rim, I guess you could call this Akae style, the colors are similar.

Adriano

It?s a good find, thank you Stan.

Stan

Also I should point out that this is called Imari because it was shipped out of the port of Imari and was made in Arita.

Adriano

Hi Stan,
Is the central part printed or hand painted?

Thank you.

Stan

The center is transferred and it looks like the rest was hand painted, not like the Chinese porcelain that did not use transfer decoration until much later into the 20th century, Japanese porcelain was using stencil and transfer methods way into the 19th century.

Stan

The decoration on the back is Transferred also.

Adriano

Thank you again Stan.
