Republic Tea cup with Mark!

The mark is not in my book on marks by Gerald Davison, but it looks old, I wonder if the mark could have been added as well as some of the decoration at a later date?

The first part of the mark Wanyu Shunji itself is a mark commonly found on porcelain, the latter, Shunji, is a workshop or store name.
Yes, looks old. The shape is a bit odd, in the combination, not impossible though. What I mean is would it be possible that these were originally two different items? Could the lower part be that of a porcelain box with missing lid, which was replaced by a tea cup?

That make good sense, they came from the same set but the top was probably the top for a rice bowl.

To my eye it looks as if the 'lid' i.e. the piece with the metal band was originally larger and got damaged, so it was reduced in size and banded. On one of the pictures there is some decoration that appears to be cut off at the edge. These might be the last remnants of a very fine service.

What do you guys think of this piece? Is this more republic? Or late Qing?
