Hello. Could anyone help me identify this piece? Thanks!

peterp

This bottom shape is probably not Chinese.

Stan

The bottom and the almond color with crackle looks like that of Japanese Satsuma earthenware and the decoration Edo period in my opinion.
The bottom picture, I am not sure if that is the inside the circular box or the bottom, if not could you post a picture of the bottom, thanks.

Hi Stan, thanks for letting us know. I have never come across this type of bottom, but the decoration is also a bit deviating from Chinese styles. The box has what we would call a high foot. The lower picture is the deep  interior of the foot viewed from below. The bottom area within the foot rim is glazed and the rim is slanted outward. Such a deep foot is quite unusual as it decreases the usable volume inside the porcelain box.

Hi Stan! Thanks for your input. Peter is right, the lower picture is the outside (i.e. the bottom) of the foot.

Thanks Peter and Jrubio, Im thinking this is a Japanese snuff box, I have seen bottoms like this on some Satsuma ware, I believe this is earthenware not porcelain.
