Hi
what can you tell me about this vase. and can you help me better understand the difference between Japanese and Chinese imari.

Stan

Hi Rec, this is from Arita Hizen 1868 - 1912 my guess on the later side they fired their ware on sand in the kilns strange it is not marked, Chinese Imari mostly 17th and 18th centuries were done carefully and of high quality having a distinct difference than Japanese Imari, I suggest studying the two over time and experience it becomes easy to tell them apart, shapes, colors, and style plus decoration gives each other away.
