I am undecided if this is Chinese or Japanese.
Also the pictorial mark what does it signify?
Thank you

I do apologize for for not giving Japan a capital letter.
Sorry cant see an edit function.

Looking at the mark it resembles a censer.

A square dish with a round base?
The first impression is that it is not traditional Chinese. Decoration and base are all a bit strange.
And, as far as I know there are no pictorial marks (pre-1800) of this type that were red. They should be in underglaze blue. I guess it is Japanese.

I have never seen a mark like that on Japanese either, but I would lean towards Japanese, do you think Korean?
