Hi all
I have recently taken apart a vase lamp that I should think has been a lamp for at least 50 years. Obviously I realise that any value in the vase has been greatly compromised by the hole in the bottom, but it would still be interesting to find out what the mark on the bottom means in terms of age and origin.
It looks to me as if the mark has been rubber stamped on, so I guess that is not a great sign?!
Any thoughts on the attached image would be gratefully received, many thanks.

The mark is printed and says it was made in Japan.

Hi Peter
Many thanks for the response - does the nature of the mark give any indication of age? I have attached a picture of it before I removed the lamp fittings - I thought it most likely to be late 19th century, but it has quite a lot of gold on it and I read somewhere that gold was not used so much after 1850?
Any further thoughts would be appreciated...
