Hi, this vase has been in the family for years and my dad now wants to know more about it.  It is damaged quite a bit around the top so not worth an awful lot but he's interested to know age etc.  I'm not sure if it's Japanese or Chinese,  a relative brought it back from India to my grandfather!

Any info appreciated :)

Nanking Chinese ware . Its a combination of famille verte with brown bands with warriors on horse backs and people with flags.  They are usually early 1900 century.  There are some really poor quality ones out there and lots of fakes and recent made. the marks are very illegible, but they are usually aprophical chenggua or Kangxi marks. They are quite common but they usually made them in the first half of the 20th century.

You should post more photos of the shape , foot rim and such so its very hard to give an opinion based on parts of the vase.
