Title: Fencai Gaiwan
Post by: kardinalisimo on Dec 06, 2014, 07:07:18
Not quite a gaiwan but not sure what is the name for it.
I am thinking fairly recent but want to double check.
Thanks

Hi Kardinalisimo, nice lidded dish, it looks to me to be from the mid 20th century.

Thanks Stan. I saw this at an estate sale but decided not to get it because I felt like it was something more recent.

Gaiguan would be right.
Looks like Straits Chinese porcelain. See the main site for "Peranakan". However, Stan is probably right with the dating. The black outlines and the bottom/mark point to a vintage item.
