Title: Kangxi period vase?
Post by: Simonne on Feb 17, 2014, 20:07:06
Hello,

Could be this vase an authentic Kangxi period porcelain piece? Thank you in advance for your opinion.

Looks more like a 19th century item to me.
There is an odd thing, though. Is the glaze along the double ring mark elevated? If yes, this could mean that the double ring was added later on top of the glaze, and the covered with artificial glaze. The blue ring should be below the original glaze and the bottom flat, as no elevations remain after firing. The lines running on the inside and outside along the double ring could indicate that glaze was added later, and the only reason for this would be to make it look as if the double ring was under the glaze at the time of firing.
