Title: small tea cup/bowl
Post by: mistyforest1111 on Nov 13, 2014, 12:27:46
Hi, I have this small tea cup or bowl. I would like to know what's the meaning of the message written on the cup and also what it says on the mark. My Chinese friend told me that it's written in old Chinese writing. Also if you know about this type of pottery. Thanks.

This looks it was made fairly recent, Japanese export the writing looks Islamic to me.

It's Japanese, Stan, at least partially. I can read some characters, but many are written in a manner that makes them unreadable. Most are bent in ways that it is not even clear whether this is just fanciful Japanese handwriting, or if some non-Japanese imitated the writing without knowing how the characters are normally written.

Thanks Peter, I have never seen Japanese writing like that before.
