Title: Is this an old plate or modern?
Post by: Digigran on Nov 08, 2014, 19:51:22
I am new to this forum and know absolutely nothing about Chinese Antique Porcelain so please bear with my ignorance! I inherited this with other items from my grandmother. It is not delicate at all but rather chunky. However it has what looks like grit and bubbles in the glaze and quite a few scratches. The mark on the back is quite blurred and there are some symbols scratched on a square. Does anyone know how old it could be?

Yamatoku kiln. Seems to be Arita, Japan. Possibly printed, but cannot help with age.

Thanks so much peterp and for moving it to the correct forum. I will do some more research on the kiln & Arita.

I would say it is Meiji period late 19th century.
