Title: Chinese Floor Vase
Post by: bev11 on Oct 02, 2014, 01:13:56
I would really appreciate if anyone could give me some information about this vase. I don't know anything about Asian art and was totally overwhelmed when I tried to read about it. So much to learn!

The vase measures  62 cm in height. I hope the pictures come out but in case the resolution isn't that great - there's gold leaf outlining the various birds and flowers. The background is covered with blue and red enamel dots while the flowers and borders have larger white enamel accents.

Hi Bev, I really don't know what to say, the bottom indicates that it was recently made at least not more than a couple of decades anyway, I can't say for sure whether Chinese or Japanese, it looks more Japanese to me but when it comes to modern porcelain I am uncertain.

Thanks for the info, Stan. Sorry about putting it in the wrong forum- it never occurred to me that the vase might be Japanese. So now I learned something!
