Title: Red Glaze Vase
Post by: kardinalisimo on Sep 03, 2014, 07:14:09
The glaze is lightly crackled, not glossy like on the Sang De Boeuf but more like orange peel/souffle like. I don't see any significant age signed so probably not antique. Wonder if it is very recent or older.
Oh, I forgot. I am not even sure if it is Chinese.
Any thought?
Thanks

The shape is Chinese, but probably later in the 20th century. The bottom is not very old, it seems.  If the saw shaped line inside where the red glaze ends is original, then probably some modern method of applying the glaze was used. I doubt that the creation of such an even saw line would be possible with hand application.
