Title: Wash hand basin
Post by: calder on Aug 25, 2014, 19:08:27
Hi the seller is offering this to me for just over 200 euro.
It does have  few star cracks at bottom and chip on side and usual ware for an  antique.
Width  29.5 cms
Thoughts ?

Hi Calder, I think I like the design on this bowl more than the one on mine, the out side decoration looks just like the one I posted, and the price is a good price, How come there is all these wash basins all of a sudden, or is it that just because I bought one that Im noticing them, go figure, must be about the same period as karinalisimo and my Basin.

Also noticing two holes in a lot of the plates now.

Something I just noticed Calder, the enamel on yours on the inside of the basin seems to be thiner than the enamels on mine, the one I have has a very thick enamel, I do not know if that means anything but perhaps yours could be a little older maybe.

Seems that I have to change my view on the underside decoration. On wash basins it was used obviously later than the Jiaqing/Daoguang reigns.

The thinner enamels are obviously original, and they are in a good condition too. I would think this is slightly earlier than Stan's, probably Tongzhi.
