Title: Bat shaped bowl
Post by: Adriano on Jun 17, 2025, 17:46:15
This is another bowl I have.
The piece surely was part of a set for condiments or foods.
Judging by shape and decoration, I would put it in the late 19th century.
The writing could  be the artist name, but this is out of my possibilities.
Thanks for your attention.

Part of a Chinese cabaret dish. Yes, your dating seems right. The characters are not a name, they are related to the theme. I can see the characters "bird" and "flower". Any other writing on this?

The relevant text may be on one of the other parts of the whole set. I have seen this design before.

This is interesting to know, I have only this piece of the set, so the rest of the poem remain unknown.
Being pieces of common use, complete sets are not easy to find.
For who is interested, many pictures of these sets are collected Here:

Thanks again Peter.
