Title: A Blue Monochrome censer
Post by: heavenguy on Aug 06, 2024, 07:24:51
Hi, I also got this the other day. it is a cobalt blue monochrome censer. Looks like it was never used so that makes me suspicious of it. Foot looks late 18th century but glazed. has wear around it but like I mentioned before, never used. Any opinion will be of much appreciation.  thank you all.

Hi Heavenguy, this looks like bottoms I see on Japanese porcelain 20th century.

Yeah I was thinking about it too, but shape more Chinese than Japanese. I guess it is some type of modern  interpretation of something. I don't know. I remember Peter said that the orientation of the wheel while potting the piece could also give an indication on where it was made.

Yes, but that requires crackles to be visible.
