Title: Covered bowl
Post by: Adriano on Jun 07, 2024, 23:12:14
I have this piece that I have dated to the early Republic period, looking at the painting style.
There are signs of use, age and firing defects, so I think it is genuine.
It seems that there is no date indicated.
The bottom mark is quite unreadable and unknown to me.
Thank for comments.

Hi Adriano,
The mark is too blurred, or rather it looks as if it was stamped twice, resulting in this look.
It is not readable, but seems to be a reign mark, because the first two characters seem to be 大清 and the last two appear to be 年製 .
I believe it is a Qianlong mark, but not quite sure. Judging this to say Qianlong mainly by the top character in the middle.
Anyway, a reign mark is unusual on such porcelain. I would suggest a scratch test to see if it was added later.

Hi Peter,
thank for suggesting Qianlong mark.
I found some Qianlong marks on Qianjiang porcelains, very fews.
This in particular is on a piece dated 1920, with a decoration similar to mine.
The printed Qianlong mark is an a different style.

This is a four character mark. Yours has a six character mark. If there are any, then it might be no problem.
