Title: Cricket Box
Post by: sdadig on Feb 26, 2024, 02:56:41
Hi! I recently received this porcelain cricket box from my grandmother (she was an avid collector) after she passed and I would like to find out more about it if anyone can assist. I attempted to look up the markings on the bottom with no luck. Thanks for any help!

楊啟興號
This is a shop or workshop name. The first three characters are read Yang Qi-xing in mandarin and are likely the owner's name. The fourth means that it is a shop or store.
On the side is a cyclical calendar date which points to 1915. That would be about right for the type of decoration or colors. Earlier or later 60 years would be off for the type of decoration and colors.
