Title: Yuan/ Song Bowl?
Post by: smak on Jan 18, 2024, 11:58:26
Hi ,

What do you guys think? Looks like it could be Song but not entirely sure. Have the opportunity to buy this for $150 and it's really tempting.

Seems to have a hairline crack too..

Thanks!

Not Song. Could be Yuan but also Ming. The nipple in the center of the bottom is the only thing that points to Yuan, but sometimes nipples are found in other periods too.
This would not be a "typical" Yuan style foot rim.

Are the lines below the rim carved or are they painted in underglaze blue?
The lines in the bowl side might point to some coastal kiln, in any case I do not think it is from a mainstream kiln, judging by the bottom.
