Title: Rice bowl with lid identification
Post by: scausby448 on Dec 15, 2023, 02:41:25
Hello,
I believe this is an Japanese Arita bowl.  It also has a cover.  Could I get a time frame, based on the mark?  I have seen several marks like this...but this one is lined in gold.  I thought that might help date the bowl.  Thanks.

The Mark is abbreviated Hizen, Hizen is a town in Arita, what is shown on your bowl is" Hi" , it would more than likely date to the Meiji period. I would need to see the decoration on the bowl  to tell if it is Meiji or a later item.

Thanks sheila for the additional photo's, In my opinion I would date this to the late Meiji period, or possibly later.
