Title: Pair of wedding bowls with characters. Guangxu mark
Post by: joolia1128 on Aug 21, 2014, 22:19:45
Hello!
Does anyone know if this is authentic?
Beautiful bowls but not sure if these are antiques or replicas.

Thank you!

The mark is an imperial Guangxu mark which would date from 1850 to 1908, if these bowls are authentic they would have a very high collectors value, could you send closer pictures of the bottom foot and clear close up pictures of the decoration, thanks.

Sorry about the date, the end of the Tongzhi was 1873 and the start of the Guangxu period, I was just going by memory, I thought I better check my dates, the end of the Guangxu period was correct 1908.

The photo is to small to see the details clearly, a close photo of the bottom foot and  a close photo of the  decoration.

The size limit here makes it hard to send a really good picture, but does this help at all?

I will try to send a more close up of the foot. Thank you so much!!!

Your bowls look authentic to me, I think you should get a hands on inspection to verify, they just may have a high collectors value.
