Post by: rgomes10 on Sep 12, 2023, 22:26:02
Hello!
I would like to ask, please, about the period of the plate.
Thank you so much.
Best regards,
Regina

Hi Regina,

In my view this is a modern fake.
The double foot rim looks odd. Although it occurred in the Kangxi reign, it is rare, I have never encountered one. Those I have seen were probably all fakes.
Despite the pictures not being clear I can tell that the dragon is wrong. It looks like a snake. It has five claws, and they would be imperial or from the end of the Qing dynasty. The claws are spread out.
The tail tip is not right for Ming. The posture is not Ming either. And the rest of decoration was just filling the empty space. All clouds on the bottom and floral on top. Cannot see the head shape clearly.

I would expect this to be from the 1980s or later.
