I guess an export piece.
Any help with the period and the signature?
Thanks
I'm afraid this could be Japanese too. Although the decoration has a resemblance to Chinese decorations, the foot rim, top rim and mark are typical for Japanese porcelain. I am still to see a Chinese plate with such a rim.
But, this seems to be old.
The rim is not traditional but I thought the export pieces may have exceptions. I would never guess the painting style and the enamels were done by the Japanese. Maybe Stan knows more.
There is another plate with similar shape that is probably Japanese too.
Peter,
Referring to reply #2, I notice that there is a ridge running round the foot rim. What does that tell us? Thank you! Shelley
