Could someone tell me how I can make my photo small enough for viewing on this posting site?

Open it in a photo image viewer or editor, usually there is an option/setting for resizing images. Select a width between 600 and 800 pixel, then save it.
In most cases this size is sufficient for viewing details.
The maximum size in kB per image is 200, combined for one post 400. If you need more, just 'Reply' to your own post and add more pictures.
(In most cases an image size of approx. 100 kB is enough for a picture of the size mentioned above.)
