Title: Drum containers
Post by: Bod Willis on Apr 17, 2021, 19:13:40
Hi
I have recently come across these from a chinese ceramics collectors dispersal sale in Australia.
Whilst they look like garden stools they have lids and are glazed on the inside.
They are 32cm high and 31 cms wide.
Can anyone shed any light on these as to they origen and perhaps their utilitarian purpose.

Thanks in Advance

Glazed earthenware, it seems. Judging by the glaze color these might be from a kiln in southern China. Tea storage containers (that are smaller) from the Guangdong area often have that kind of color. A combination of storage vessel and seat, it seems.
