Title: B&W bowl - early Qing?
Post by: JjGhandi on Dec 18, 2020, 16:05:16
Hello Peter, Stan, everyone,

The 4th bowl I got is this one.

I can't seem to place this decoration anywhere.
The glaze on the rim is really thick. On the bottom there's a thick 'button' in the middle.

It seems that it has been reglazed on the outside. Is that possible? Perhaps someone put a coating on it? Some places where the glaze is damaged they feel really smooth when sliding your finger over it, like there's still glaze.

The base decoration next to the foot rim seems like a sloppy variation of banana leaves.
The foot rim is quite wide.
The blue hue is discolored on different places.

Thanks in advance for all your helpful comments!

Kind regards,

JJ

Perhaps it isn't even Chinese but Korean or Thai?
Or for Arab export?
I honestly wouldn't know.

Kind regards,

JJ

Does not look Chinese, nor Korean, to me. I would think at Thai or something else.

Hi Peter,

Great, thanks.
This helps to place it!
