Title: Bowl
Post by: JjGhandi on Nov 28, 2020, 08:22:33
Hi everyone,

What are tour thoughts on this bowl?
It's being sold as Ming.

If it would be, would it be transitional period export ware?

The pictures aren't in the best quality, for which my apologies.

Kind regards,

JJ

The mark is irrelevant for dating. Not sure when it came into being, but it is also present on items of other periods. It has the character 泰 'tai' which is considered auspicious.

Nothing to do with Ming. This decoration started to be used in the Qing dynasty, Jiaqing reign. Although a later manufacture is possible, Jiaqing is most likely.

Hey Peter,

Thanks a lot!
Jiaqing it is then.
And I can assume this is an export piece?

Kind regards,

JJ

No, that is not export porcelain.
