Title: Blue & White porcelain 2
Post by: GerryG on Nov 04, 2020, 00:37:08
Here is a small bowl/urn no more that a couple of inches high. Maybe a small brush pot. Blue is dark. crackled glaze with iron spots. there is also a grayish overtone to the glaze on the body seen in Ming blue and white so maybe from then.

Regards Gerry

If you search for "vietnamese blue white jarlets" you will find examples of these. They are in Ming style, but I do not know until what time they were made in Vietnam.
The shape is more typical for Vietnamese jars than Chinese ones. The decoration is imitating Chinese designs. The reason is probably that many Chinese kiln workers emigrated there during the Ming dynasty. Sometimes Vietnamese Jars are easily distinguished by the bottom, but nor always. The decorations are often similar.
