Title: Kangxi incised mark small jar with sancai glaze
Post by: mb1991 on Oct 03, 2020, 02:14:40
Opinions in this vase?

It has less than 1 feet.
I like it even though I have no hope of being from the period.

Thanks in advance,

Personally I think the sancai glaze is new. It is too bright and too pristine, without any age traces or crackling, etc. Then there is a Kangxi mark, but the blue on-glaze color would be different for that period, in my view.
I do not know if sancai glaze decorations were actually made in that reign, but a susancai (plain sancai) decoration would be more normal for the Kangxi reign. This is more likely a more recent decoration.

(Please note that this comment concerns only the decoration. The jar body could be older, but only a hands-on inspection could give a definite answer.)
