Title: Jar with Da Ming Zuande Nian Zhi mark
Post by: Winger on Jul 09, 2020, 10:58:14
Hallo everyone, I posted a thread under the name 'Swatow(?) vase' yesterday. This is the other possibly Zhangzhou item that I own. It is a lidded jar in superb condition. The mark looks to be handpainted to me.

If anyone with greater knowledge could tell me more then I'd be much obliged.

Another fake with incorrect colors. The painting style is not right either. Especially the flowers would never have been painted this way in ancient times. The purple color was non-existent in the Ming dynasty.
Zhangzhou wares remained mostly unmarked, but a Xuande mark (from the early Ming dynasty) on any item is suspicious. Real Xuande items would be rare and very expensive if marked. Not something that is usually found in the open market, perhaps more likely in one of the top auctions.

OK, thanks again. I paid very little and bought them because I liked the look of them.
