Post by: konniela on Jun 06, 2020, 16:16:45
Hello,

I have seen this nice piece, but I am not sure, if it is made in late 19.century. There are too much pieces with this decoration from later time.

Thanks for help

Hi Konniela, I would date this at Mid Meiji.

Hi Konniela, the decoration looks authentic but the shape, depending on size is unusual, also the decoration inside are identical, all the ones I have seen are reversed images, this is a circular box with cover, it would have been used for incense in tea ceremonial settings called Koro I believe.
