Title: Imari, Chinese or Japanese?
Post by: samborsu on Apr 17, 2020, 23:08:48
Hello,
How do you differenciate Japanese from Chinese Imari?
I have those 4 plates and I would like to know the country of origin and the period if possible. I have a pair of pic #  1    that are the same except there are some small differences because they were hand painted.
Thanks

In my opinion 2 and 3 could be good examples of Chinese Imari, the red, blue and gold is typical, most of the Chinese Imari came from the Kangxi period and with out seeing the bottoms and the shape of the foot no one can say for sure, all the plates need bottom pictures and it is easier to post them one at a time to avoid confusion, thanks.
