Title: Deep export plate with perchment unrolled
Post by: haukech on Jul 14, 2019, 01:53:49
Dear All,
Again a bit of problems from my side with the combination of enamels.
In regards to dating i would say later than 1750 based on the absense of decoration on the back.
Any further views?
Thanks in advance!

If this is from the same source as the Batavia item I would be careful. They both give the impression of being repainted, partially, I'm afraid. The pink on the rim looks too thick to be original, considering that some other colors have already disappeared. The rim decoration in general is very revealing in this respect. Part of it is original, but some colors are newer, in my view.

Thanks Peterp, no its actually a complete different one. I had seen some drawings with scroll in Kangxi and later but indeed the colours are a strange mix. Thtas why i was asking for some source to check combinations of enamels. I will post later another plate (smaller) I got from this source.
