Title: Early Republic or straight fake? Ginger jar with Qianlong mark
Post by: JjGhandi on Jun 30, 2019, 06:30:59
Hello,

Bought a ginger jar for 5 bucks at a flea market today.
Busy floral decoration with eternal life symbol.
Qianlong mark at the base.

I've got a feeling this is a 1920's jar .

What do you guys think? Am I right or is this a 1960-1970's fake?

Pics can be found here: imgur.com/a/Os9QIzx

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
JJ

If anything late 20th or early 21st century, probably.  The blue is color too dark, and foot rimare bottom wrong for an antique. The Qianlong mark and part of the straight lines are not handpainted.

The decoration looks printed.
