The right characters are Dai Nappon, Im not sure about the left characters, perhaps the place where it was made, usually marks that say Dai Nappon are from 1868 to 1912 but there were stamped marks in the 30's and 40's that were used yours is clearly hand painted, I would like to see the front if you do not mind, thanks.

The left part '??' is a name, probably read Shiraishi, and ? means "made" or "made by".

Hi Regina, as Peter pointed out " Made or Made by " usually means that it was made after 1920 to present, however the gold looks older than present, my guess is 2nd half of the 20th century.
