Interesting, not sure about this, the shape looks like they are copying the Chinese Mallet shape which is a rare shape, but I have never seen such an item for Chinese or Japanese.

Not Far Eastern, in my view. The red color looks as if it was sprayed on. Was it fired at all?

I believe its not sprayed but fired.

The red color glaze looks definitely sprayed on, fired or not. But possibly not the part at the top. That is the one that looks as if it might not be fired. Could be... anyway, nothing Far Eastern.
