Am I correct in calling this a Brinjal bowl?
Also what age would you give this?... late Qing dynasty?
Thanks again.
More pics.
This is the first time I hear the term. Looking up bowls with this decoration, they are all what we call Susancai, or plain Sancai (tri-color). I see that Brinjal appears to be a name for the eggplant (aubergine), but decorations with that color are usually the same color as the aubergines, and they are called "aubergine-colored", at least in Chinese. They are mostly monochromes.
This said, the bowl is what normally is called Batavia ware - see http://www.chinese-antique-porcelain.com/batavia.html
This is probably Qing dynasty, but could not tell exactly from when.
Thank you Peter for your time.
Great as always.
