sorry i have no picture of the bottom. the seller claims it's from 1900. could it be that old?

Yes, this is Japanese Imari, the attire of the Japanese figure in black was a Hichozan trait which is what this is with out seeing the bottom we can't know for certain but looks good to me, the shape and decoration looks authentic, a picture of the bottom is needed to confirm this.
