Title: Flambe Vase
Post by: ssbill on Jul 21, 2018, 11:07:24
Hi,
I think this vase is from the 19th century. I've tried to find one online with the same bottom. Without success.... Qing dynasty or modern?

Difficult to answer without hands-on inspection. The problem with this flambe vase is the white specks all over. On the bottom it looks as if it is sprayed on. Normally this color should not be there.
If it is yours, I would try to scratch it off with a sharp blade. Only if it comes off would I consider this as late Qing, as this means it was not fired. Otherwise the glaze is odd. I would abstain from buying items with problematic glazes like this...
