Title: Vase - possibly acquired at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair
Post by: CotopaxiRon on Jul 13, 2018, 13:09:48
Family lore is that the vase was acquired at the 1904 St.Louis World's Fair (the Louisiana Purchase Exposition).

No markings on the bottom, so not shown.

Could it be a "lucky knot" "motif" that is shown on the third image?

I would greatly appreciate any insight that could be provided - I have searched lots of images, with no luck at finding anything with similar imagery, especially the "motif" on the third image.

This looks Japanese. Please upload a closeup picture or two of the decoration and (important) one showing the bottom in detail. Can be partial.

This is a Satsuma type of kyoto, this is made from earthenware and is a little later 1920's to 1930's.

Thanks much for the responses!  Apologies on not getting the ceramic (and date) parts correct. Will try to provide a picture of the bottom.

With the Kyoto Satsuma ID, I am finding similar vases now.  Appreciate it!
