Title: Late Republic Vase
Post by: bokaba on Jun 20, 2018, 05:55:50
Is this a late Republic period vase? The pristine bright white glaze makes me think this is a newer item.

Thank you

Yes, seems to be relatively new. The presence of a Qianlong zhuanti character mark is usually also a sign of this. I do not think many items of the early republic period have such marks. In that period they are mostly of the kaiti type.

Thanks Peter. I didn't think the mark looked right. From what I have seen, later Republic pieces some times bear Zhuanti marks, but in iron red on turquoise ground.
