Title: Pair of blue and white jars (early or late Kangxi)?
Post by: gateway26 on Jun 01, 2014, 11:51:25
A pair of blue and white jars with original covers / lids.
Decorated with vibrant sapphire blue; reserved with stylized phoenix roundels alternating with cloud scrolls. The shoulder is painted with a band of ruyi and the base with lappets. The base has double circle in underglaze blue.
Few jars with same stylized phoenix roundels exists.
A sample with similar stylized phoenix roundels alternating with cloud scrolls pattern can be found at Christie's London King Street, Sale 7720, Lot 163, 12 May 2009. This vase was labeled as 18th/19th century.

The pair in my collection, the base has double circle in underglaze blue. Would like to find out (from Peter) if this is from Kangxi period?
