Title: Two Small Jars and a few questions
Post by: pitterpatter on Mar 25, 2018, 08:02:16
Hello,
I was given two small jars and I'm quite curious about them. The blue and white jar measures 1.5 inches tall x 2 inches wide and the second jar is 1.75 inches tall x 2 inches wide. I've spent a lot of time trying to find similar characters to compare these to, but haven't had much luck. I have a feeling I'm not looking in the right places, and I appreciate any insight you might be able to share! Of course I do understand that the markings most likely wont tell me much about their ages or maker, but I'd still like to learn as much as I can. Thank you for this wonderful resource!! Take care

Sorry, I could not find the mark in my book on marks.

No wonder. These are not proper Chinese marks, but character imitations. These two porcelain boxes were probably made in SE Asia.

I knew I just needed to ask! I don?t even want to admit how many hours I spent comparing these characters alongside authentic ones haha. Thank you for solving this puzzle for me!
