I have the opportunity to buy these two dishes. How old is it? It looks like kangxi to me.
Looks more like llamas to me...
Basically, if Chinese these should be Zhangzhou porcelain, but the rim decoration does not seem to fit, at least those I know are not this way.
The base could be a Dehua or Japanese foot rim, but neither Zhangzhou nor Dehua do have this much kiln grit adhering to the rim itself, and it is not yellowish normally, if there is any. If Chinese it would be late Ming, but there is always the possibility of a Japanese copy. They also copied other late Ming wares in the 19th century, with lots of kiln grit (more than the Chinese porcelain usually shows).
Anyone knows the rim decoration?
I posted a Kutani vase awhile back that has a similar rim decoration but much smaller and the vase is early 20th century these plates have nice age signs, could very well be old Japan but I could not find similar decorations in any of my books especially the dear or llamas with spots.
