Post by: Peace on Jan 16, 2014, 04:35:15
Hi,

it's a massive big and Very heavy porcelain frame Ceramic plaque

The picture looks real amazing  like Picasso Van Gogh Monet Rodin Warhol Banksy in its own style

Superb life like unique

tigers (frame white)

46 inches  ( roughly 1 metre 25 cm height) x 26 inches (67 cm)

Is it fake?

What is the marking ?

late 19th century?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Judging by the four character title alone I dare say this is a modern fake.
Anyone having basic knowledge of Chinese calligraphy can see that the characters were not written in a fluent manner as an artist or craftsman would write on his own items. It is very obvious that the strokes were written by someone trying to imitate a style he/she is not accustomed to.

I would be careful with collecting porcelain plaques. The large majority was made in the 20th century, and the old plaques made in the 19th century were mostly small in size.
