Title: Lidded jar info please
Post by: Selector on Jan 10, 2018, 02:26:27
Hello,
I have had this jar for years and never really known anything about it. I wonder how old it may be ?

There is a picture on one side of the lid and base and on the other side is what seems to be chinese writing, there is also a blue set of marks to the underneath.

There are lots of black dots randomly in the surface which look like bubbles in the glaze ?

Any info greatly received, many thanks
Steve

I am not sure, but it looks like republic.. I have seen similar pieces (mark and decoration) made by Jiangxi company, they were dated ca.1925/1930. But I can not read the chinese inscription, may be it can tell more.

This is likely about 1920s to 1940s. This can be deducted from the hairstyle painted.
